As we reach the final few days of the school year I would like to thank you all for your support throughout the children’s time in Reception. It has been much appreciated.
This week we had our graduation ceremony and the children were thrilled to see so many of you there. They spent a long time learning the songs and making their special hats. On the day they performed beautifully and we were very proud of them.

This week the children have enjoyed discussing different foods that we need to stay healthy. They have learnt that there are some foods that we should eat a lot and some that we should only eat a little and they have taken part in a sorting activity to show that they understand this. We finished the week with a healthy picnic in the sunshine.
Our maths this week has been all about weighing and we have linked it to the topic by weighing fruit and vegetables. We also made cupcakes to eat at the picnic by balancing all the ingredients against an egg. The children were eager to tell us that cupcakes are something that we should only eat a little. Great to see them making the links between different areas of learning!
Next week we start our mini topic which is all about having a healthy lifestyle. We will be making a healthy plate to show which foods we should eat the most and which we should eat less of. On Friday afternoon we will be having a healthy picnic in the quad.
Our maths will be practical problem solving involving weighing some of the ingredients that we need for the picnic.
A couple of dates for your diary On Tuesday 2nd July it is Meet the Teacher Day on this day the children will spend 30mins in their new class room with their new teacher. On 10th July we are going on a trip to Morden Hall Park, you should already have received a letter to sign, pleas return this as soon as possible. On Tuesday 16th July at 2.30-3.30pm we have a Reception Graduation Ceremony to which you will all be invited so look out for a letter soon.
This Monday the children took part in the school Sports Day at the Croydon Arena. In the morning the children took part in a carousel of fun activities including and egg and spoon race, bean bag throwing and an obstacle race. After a well deserved rest and some lunch each class took part in sprint races in front of the stands and then the children watched the other year groups do their sprints. After that we watched a teachers race won by coach Grace with our own Miss Taylor coming in a close second! There were also mums’ races and dads’ races. Louwano’s mum won her race, well done ! A big thank you to all the parents who helped us by travelling on the tram with us. Also thank to all of those parents who came to watch it was lovely to see you there and I am sure you will agree that it was a very successful day.
