Welcome back and Happy New Year to you all, I hope you had an enjoyable break. The children have come back to school enthusiastic and eager to learn.

Maths has been about place value within 10. That is understanding that 15 is made from 10 and 5 more.
In English we have read, story mapped and acted out the book Lost and Found .
I wold like to say a great big thank you to all of children and staff in Year One. The Christmas play was a real success thank to a real effort from everyone. Thanks also to the parents who supported us either by helping their children learn the lines, or coming to watch the finished performance. It was lovely to see so many of you there.
A few dates for your diary.
Christmas Jumper Day is on Wednesday 11th December, please bring £1 to participate. The children should still wear school uniform on their bottom half. This is also the day of school Christmas dinner so if you have not already ordered one you will need to provide a packed lunch for your child.
Remember that school is closed on Thursday 12th December for Polling day.
Friday 13th December we are pleased to invite you to the Year One and Reception Christmas performance of Angel Express at 1.30pm in the Main Hall
This week’s maths- the children have been learning number bonds from 10-20. They have used concrete materials, pictorial representations and then used number sentences to show what they have learned.
We have been working very hard on our Christmas performance and the singing and dancing is looking particularly good.
Next week we will focus on the Christmas play in earnest. Learning lines and actions for the children with an acting part is quite hard so we have given those children a highlighted script in order that you can help them learn their lines at home.
Our focus in maths in will be on geometry, the children will be learning about 2D and 3D shapes and their properties for the next weeks.
