Next week’s Learning (beginning 20th May)

Next week we will continue to explore our class book “Supertato” and find out what our hero has been up to next.

In maths we will be thinking about time and asking the children to complete set tasks in 1min, 10mins or 30 mins and recording what they managed to achieve in the time.

We will be having our first RSE lesson. In reception this means talking about things that we can do our selves to keep clean and healthy. We will be talking about bed time and morning routines and asking the children to sequence them in order.

Please remember that reception is closed on Thursday 23rd for polling day although the rest of the school will remain open.

This Week’s Learning (beginning 13th May)

After last week’s exciting visit to Croydon Fire station and a visit to the school kitchen the week before, this week we had a visitor in school. We were lucky enough to have a visit from a police officer.

The police officer talked about her job, and how she helps people. The children got the chance to have a good look at some of the equipment that a police officer has to use. Some of them even got to try on some of the uniform.

In maths the children used real-life objects and situations to practise their subtraction skills before attempting to draw what they had done.

This Week’s Learning (beginning 29th April)

We had another exciting week in Reception. On Monday and Tuesday the children went to the school kitchen to talk to Chef Steve. He told the children all about his job and the equipment that he has to use, the children even got a chance to go into a giant fridge! Before visiting him the children were encouraged to think of some questions that they might like to ask Chef Steve. Then they had a go at writing their question so that they wouldn’t forget it.

On Wednesday the children (and adults) enjoyed dressing up as superheroes. This led to some lovely opportunities for being imaginative and creative

Next Week’s Learning (beginning 6th May)

Next week we have another fun-filled 4 days planned. On Tuesday and Thursday we are going to visit Croydon Fire Station where we will learn all about the job of a fire fighter and the equipment that they use. The children are really looking forward to this trip so please make sure that you sign their permission slip.

In Maths  the children will be revisiting the concept of doubling to consolidate what they already know and to learn new maths skills.

Have a lovely Bank Holiday week end, see you all on Tuesday.

Next Week’s Learning (beginning 29th April)

Next week we will read the next exciting adventure in our class book, Traction Man. The children will retell the story, learn about speech bubbles and use their phonics to write simple sentences.

In maths we will be working on addition within 20.

Don’t forget that on Wednesday 1st May we are dressing up as  super heroes  for the day.

We would very much like to develop the small garden area in the playground, if any of you have any seedlings that we could have that would be wonderful.
